Sandy Ostrau grew up in Palo Alto, California, where she actively painted in her adolescence. She continued to refine her talent at the University of Santa Barbara and participated in studio art classes and art history courses. After a brief career in marketing communications for a small Silicon Valley company, Sandy spent several years creating silk screen and hand painted clothing for Nordstrom’s and other Northern California retailers. Her draw to art eventually lead her to decide to focus on using oil paint.
Sandy began to take classes in painting and drawing at the Pacific Art League and the Art Center in Palo Alto, and at the California Academy of Painters studying with Bridgette Curt and Jim Smyth. Additionally, she studied with Peggi Kroll-Roberts, Lesley Rich, William Rushton, and Michele Katen. Sandy has won many awards for her oil paintings.
